Prasoon Joshi gets a bigger role in the APAC region

Joshi has been appointed regional executive creative director for the region. There have also been some other senior level changes

McCann-Erickson Asia Pacific will now report to an Indian chief. Prasoon Joshi, executive chairman, McCann India, has been elevated to the post of regional executive creative director, Asia Pacific. He was earlier regional creative director for South and Southeast Asia.

Joshi will now hold charge of all creative activities in the APAC region, and this includes Southeast Asia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, China and Australia. In Joshi’s words, “This is more of a philosophical role where I will step in when needed. I’d like to call it a night job. During the day, I’m still executive creative director, McCann India. The regional ECD of APAC is an added role.”

Joshi will be responsible for hiring key officials for McCann Asia Pacific in these different countries.

In another significant change from India’s perspective, the McCann India operations have been acknowledged as a distinct entity. Previously, McCann India reported into the South and Southeast Asia area, but given its increasing importance, it is now being given area status in its own right. As its executive chairman, Joshi will be its area director too.

There have been other regional changes, too, at McCann. Joshi replaces Jeremy Perrott, who has been appointed worldwide executive creative director of McCann Healthcare. Sorab Mistry has been made the Asia Pacific growth officer; he was earlier area director, Southeast Asia. Mistry has been replaced by Mark Ingrouille. Ingrouille continues to be president, McCann Thailand.

Harry Corsham has been made the Asia Pacific director of multinational clients. Mark Cripps has been appointed regional digital director, even as he maintains his role as Greater China strategic planning director for MRM.
