Sumantra Sengupta quits JWT family after 17 years

Sumantra Sengupta, senior vice-president and general manager, RMG Mumbai, has put in his papers. Sengupta has been associated with the JWT Group for the last 17 years. He is currently serving his notice at the agency.

Sengupta says, “After a successful six year operation at RMG, I have felt the need to move on and do something bigger. There are certain personal ambitions that I wish to pursue. Also, I have a vision of a relationship marketing company.”

Though Sengupta declined to reveal his future destination, it seems he will be involved in setting up a new company.

Sengupta started his career at Lintas Kolkata in 1986. After spending close to five years there, he joined JWT Kolkata and worked on various ITC brands while there. Five years later, he moved to JWT Mumbai, where he worked for a brief period before moving on to JWT Chennai. Finally, in 2001, he joined RMG Mumbai.
