Ryan Menezes quits Vyas Giannetti Creative

Menezes’ resignation is being linked to the exit of VGC COO Atul Hegde. He says he will continue to work in the advertising industry

Ryan Menezes, executive creative director, Vyas Giannetti Creative (VGC), has put in his papers. His resignation comes 15 months after he joined the agency in December 2006. Menezes says he will continue to work in the advertising industry, but he did not disclose where he was going.

Commenting on the development, Menezes says, “I joined the agency to indulge myself freely in creative work. I am happy with what I have been able to do here. But I am looking for fresher avenues and will let you know my next destination soon.”

At VGC, Menezes was instrumental in creating a corporate identity for the Indian Cricket League (ICL), the Stamps TV commercial for the Aditya Birla Group, the soon to be released international corporate campaign for Dimexon Diamonds, and the campaign for the The Park Group of Hotels. He was also part of the team which was responsible for winning the Travelocity business.

Sources say one reason why Menezes is quitting is the exit of Atul Hegde, who was chief operating officer of VGC. Menezes was closely associated with Hegde and the two have also worked together earlier at Euro RSCG. Hegde has now become chief executive officer at Connecturf.

Menezes was a judge at the Abbys, the AAAI and the Outdoor Advertising Awards in 2005 and 2006. He was ranked eighth nationally in the top creative directors list in the Brand Equity Survey of 2006.

Prior to VGC, he worked with Mudra Communications as national creative director. Other agencies he has worked with are SSC&B Lintas, Saatchi & Saatchi, O&M, Ambience Publicis, Grey Worldwide and Lowe (in Nairobi).
