Leo Burnett receives five more shortlists at NYF 2009

The New York Festivals has announced the shortlists for four more categories and Leo Burnett has again emerged at the top

Leo Burnett has again emerged at the top of the table for shortlists from India for the New York Festivals (NYF) 2009 edition. This time, NYF has announced four more categories – Art & Technique, Design, Student and Avant-Garde, and out of these, India has managed six shortlists in all the categories except Avant-Garde.

Leo Burnett's tally stands at five shortlists. It is the only Indian agency to be chosen in the fresh lot of announced categories. In the Art & Technique category, the agency has been shortlisted for its work on Bajaj fans, titled Polka Dots, in the Photography sub-category; and for Tide detergents, titled Tide God Shoot, in the Photography and Art Direction sub-categories.

In the Design category, the agency has been shortlisted for its work on Lokart Paint Thinner, titled Splash, in the Home Items sub-category; and for Luxor Highlighters, titled Luxor Stationary, in the Stationary sub-category.

The sixth shortlist from India has come in the Student category for Swinburne University of Technology, Mumbai's work in the Outdoor category, titled Save the Kangaroos for Animal Liberation.

Earlier, the shortlists for the Digital and Interactive, Outdoor, Print, Radio and TV/Cinema categories were announced and India scored a total of 12 shortlists in these categories.

Leo Burnett was leading the pack then, too, with eight shortlists. Euro RSCG, Out of the Box, Beehive Communications and Hungama Digital Media Entertainment had one shortlist each. In all, India now has 18 shortlists, and Leo Burnett is at the helm with 13 shortlists.

Two more categories, Collateral and Mixed Media Campaign, are yet to be announced.

The 51st edition of the NYF has several Indian ad professionals in the jury. KV Sridhar (Pops), national creative director, Leo Burnett, is a jury member for Television and Cinema Advertising category. Similarly, Agnello Dias (Aggie), partner, TapRoots India, is on the jury for the Print category; while Kamlesh Mehta, senior creative director, RMG Connect, is a jury member for the Digital and Interactive category. Saurabh Dasgupta, executive creative director, Innocean Worldwide, is on the jury panel for the Innovative Advertising category.

Other jury members include Nirupam Sonu, vice-president, programming, Big 92.7 FM, for the Radio category. This category also has Rana Barua, executive vice-president and national head, programming and marketing, Radio City; and Nitesh Tiwari, executive creative director, Leo Burnett, judging the entries.
