Shavon Barua returns to Euro RSCG as director of Mumbai office

In her previous stint at the agency, Barua headed the entire Reckitt Benckiser portfolio

Shavon Barua, who was executive business director at JWT, Delhi, has made her next move. The ad professional has shifted base to Mumbai, and from the beginning of the New Year, will head the Mumbai operation for Euro RSCG, as director of the agency's Mumbai office. Barua will oversee all the work that happens out of the Mumbai office, and will report to Suman Shrivastava, CEO, Euro RSCG.

"Shavon is an excellent, client-focussed communications professional and has worked on an impressive bunch clients like Reckitt, Colgate Palmolive, Pepsi Foods, Nestle, ITC and Lakme," says Shrivastava. "I am delighted to have her back, and am sure that she will make a huge positive impact on the quality of the work, and also help grow the business."

This is not the first time that Barua will have Shrivastava for a boss. During her initial years in advertising, Barua was at SSC&B Lintas (now Pickle Advertising), where she worked under the guidance of Shrivastava.

Incidentally, this is Barua's second stint with Euro RSCG. She joined the agency in 2007 to head the Reckitt Benckiser business, but left a year later to join JWT, Delhi. "Colvyn (Harris) and Rohit (Ohri) made me an offer I couldn't refuse," she says. At JWT, she worked on accounts such as Nestle and PepsiCo.

Speaking about her return to Euro, Barua says, "It has been wonderful working at JWT, Delhi, but for certain reasons I had to move to Mumbai, and Euro's was a very interesting offer in this market." Also, the fact that she's worked with both Shrivastava and Satbir Singh, NCD of the agency, made it an easier decision. "It's important to me to know the people I will report in to. And I'm glad that it's Suman."

Rajan Patel, who is the current director of Euro's Mumbai office, has apparently decided to take some time off and pursue other interests. He was part of the team that started Euro RSCG in India, and has been with the agency for nearly 14 years.

Barua began her career at Clarion (now Bates 141) in 1994, when she joined the agency soon after college. From there she moved to SSC&B Lintas, where she worked from 1995 and 2000. Her next stop was at Rediffusion Y&R, where she worked on the Colgate account. Later she headed the Lakme account at Ambience (now Publicis Ambience). For a short bit, Barua then moved to Delhi to head the operations of Dentsu's Q-Pro - the employee branding communications venture. Thereafter, she joined Euro RSCG.
