Goafest 2010: Mudra and Publicis lead the shortlists

The Mudra Group leads the shortlists for the Creative Abby Awards with 93 nominations in different categories, followed by Publicis Communications with 77 nominations and Ogilvy India with 74 nominations

The shortlists for the Creative Abby Awards for Goafest 2010 have been announced, wherein 571 pieces of work from 73 advertising agencies, direct, design, digital and film companies have been shortlisted. The nominees will compete for gold, silver and bronze metals as well as recognitions such as finalists and the Grand Prix.

Ajay Chandwani, director, Percept and chairperson, Creative Abbys talks about the shortlist and says, "This year has seen an enthusiastic participation in the Creative Abbys, with nearly 4,200 entries. The response seems overwhelming despite the fact that the whole year has been extremely difficult for most of the advertising agencies and companies after the slow down. We are grateful to all the participants."

The Creative Abby Awards are distributed in diverse sections such as Radio, Design, Film, Integrated Advertising, Out Of Home - Poster and Hoarding, Print Craft, Ambient Media, Direct Category, Film Craft, Interactive Digital Advertising and Print Single.

The Top 10 agencies with the maximum nominations are: Mudra Group (87); Publicis Communications (77); Ogilvy India (74); JWT India (28); Bates 141 (26); Leo Burnett (25); Rediffusion Y&R (24); TapRoot India (23); Creativeland Asia (21) and Nirvana Films (14)

The Mudra Group leads the pack with 93 nominations – this also includes six nominations for Tribal DDB – in categories such as Toiletries, Cosmetics and Health Care in the Radio section for its brand 'Krack Happy Feet'. Mudra is also nominated in the Design section for the category called Typography in Design for brand Recova anti-aging cream. In the Out of home - Poster and Hoarding section, Mudra has been nominated in categories such as Automotive Vehicles and Accessories, Media and Publications and also Retail Advertising.

Second in the list, with 77 nominations, is Publicis Communications, which has been nominated in the Integrated Advertising section in categories such as Food and Beverages, Public Service and Appeals and Charity. Also, in the Print Craft section, Publicis Communications has been nominated in categories such as Art Direction for Print Advertising and Art Direction for below-the-line work for its brands such as Steadfast Shredders and Adam Condoms respectively.

Ogilvy India has achieved 74 nominations in various sections. It has registered a nomination in the Film section under categories such as Food and Beverages, Household and Business Appliances, Telecom Products and Services and Travel, Entertainment and Leisure. Ogilvy has been nominated for its work on famous brands such as Bingo, Tata Sky, Vodafone and Madhya Pradesh Tourism.

Fourth in the list is JWT India, which has recorded 28 nominations for brands such as ING Vysya Bank and Birla Sun Life Insurance under the Financial category in the Film section. In the Ambient Media section, JWT won a nomination for brand Horlicks Pro-Height.

Bates 141 and Leo Burnett have received 26 and 25 nominations respectively. Amongst these, some notable nominations for the two include Bates 141 for Virgin Mobile brand under the Telecom Products and Services category; and Leo Burnett for its McDonald's McDelivery in the Packaging category in the Design section.

Rediffusion Y&R has been nominated for brands such as Kenwood and Seventymm under Household and Business Appliances and Business and Home Services, while TapRoot India, with 23 nominations, has been named for its work on brands such as The Times of India and National Geographic.

Creativeland Asia has managed the ninth position in the list with 21 nominations, with some in the Print Single section classified under the Food and Beverages category for brands such as Saint Juice, Appy Fizz and Grappo Fizz.

Nirvana Films, with 14 nominations under the Film Craft section, has been nominated under categories such as Direction, Editing, Animation and Special Effects.
