Last week, Robertson was in Delhi to talk about the initiative and encourage representation from India, which, according to her, is a country of the future. "For a global movement of this scale, it's impossible to ignore India and China - two of the world's fastest growing economies. We are willing to hear what young people have to say and follow them with full confidence," she said.

As part of the initiative, delegates from various countries across the globe attend the One Young Summit - and in doing so, represent their countries. After the first summit, they are designated ambassadors and have the responsibility for speaking for One Young World in their countries, workplaces or any other public sphere. At the summit, the delegates are honoured by the presence of the One Young World counsellors, who lend their global stature and public prowess to ensure a prestigious platform.

The last summit, held in February in London, saw more than 800 delegates who were welcomed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and musician Bob Geldof. Here, six topics were selected on the basis of the issues regarded as most serious and most pressing in the global scenario. These were The Environment and its Protection; Interfaith Dialogue; Global Business and its Role in Shaping Society; Media - Its Changing Identity and Power; The Global Health Agenda; and Developing Leadership for a Positive Future.

The next One Young World Summit will be held in Zurich on September 1-4, 2011.
