Ad Club Bengaluru announces new team; Ogilvy's Prateek Srivastava is president

The Advertising Club at Bengaluru held its annual general meeting on October 26, when the elected new team was also announced. Prateek Srivastava, group president (South), Ogilvy India, has taken charge as the new president of The Advertising Club, Bengaluru.

Malavika Harita, the immediate past president, will continue to be on the committee as the club's treasurer.

Other team members include Ruchira Raina, managing director, Dentsu Communications; M Subramaniam, vice-president, Hammer MS&L Communications, Bengaluru; S Madhusudhan, senior vice-president and head, M&E, Manipal Education; Arunava Seal, creative director, Pentagon Communications, Bengaluru; Bindu Gopinath, business manager, Portland India Outdoor Advertising; and Navin Nair, SBU Head, Percept Profile, Bengaluru.

Srivastava announced that he had co-opted three past presidents on to the new committee in an advisory role, namely R T Kumar, managing director, Oysters Advertising; P R Satheesh, president, Telibrahma Convergent Communications; and Arvind Kumar, who will continue as the executive director of the club.

Harita, in her address, said that she and her team were successful in keeping the club fairly active over the last 18 months and listed out the various programmes held. She expressed confidence that the club would continue to be very active in the hands of the new team and provide a meaningful platform for the marketing, advertising and media fraternity.

During a telecon, Srivastava told afaqs! that while the larger plan is to nurture and grow talent in the industry in an agency-neutral manner; an equally important action plan is to build a connect with the youth in the industry.

"The Ad Club comprises very senior and highly experienced individuals; while the advertising industry is teeming with Facebook and Twitter-savvy youngsters. The idea is to bridge this disconnect between the people who run the club and those who benefit from it," he shares.

The new committee would meet soon to chalk out a road map for the next 12 months.
