McCann, Leo Burnett, Rediffusion and Ogilvy win at LIA

Of the seven nominations, Indian agencies managed to bag four awards.

It seems to be a good year for the Indian agencies at the London International Awards 2010, which also marked the 25th anniversary of the awards. Four awards were bagged by Indian agencies out of the seven nominations at the prestigious awards ceremony held on November 8.

McCann Worldgroup Mumbai has been awarded a gold metal in the Point of Sale - Design category for Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement) project (The Crying Carpet). The project was designed to spread awareness amongst unsuspecting consumers about the millions of children secretly employed in the Indian arts and crafts industry.

In the same category, Leo Burnett Mumbai won a silver metal for Whisper (Wrapper). Sanitary pads are considered to be a social taboo in India. The project was about how a teenage girl would be comfortable purchasing, storing, carrying and disposing off the pads.

Under the Package Design, Beverage (Non-Alcoholic) category, Rediffusion Y&R Mumbai won a silver for Rasna. The basic task of the agency was to create iconic packaging to redefine the identity, revive the brand and make it relevant to the imagination of children - who consume it and strongly influence the purchase decision.

Finally, under the Public Service/Social Welfare Campaign - Television, Cinema and Online category, Ogilvy Mumbai won a silver for its Ring The Bell Against Domestic Violence (Bank Clerk, Software Engineer, Bus Driver) campaign. This campaign also bagged a silver Campaign Lion at the Cannes this year.

Initiated in 1986, the London International Awards recognise and honour exceptional work in advertising, design and digital.
