Cheil Worldwide Southwest Asia appoints Elvis Sequeira as national creative director

Sequeira succeeds Prathap Suthan, who bid adieu to the agency last year.

Cheil Worldwide Southwest Asia has ended its search for a creative head with the appointment of Elvis Sequeira as national creative director. Sequeira succeeds Prathap Suthan, the erstwhile NCD, who quit the agency late last year.

As head of creative for Cheil's Southwest Asia regional office, Sequeira will work closely with the agency's global creative team.

Alok Agrawal, chief operating officer, Cheil Worldwide Southwest Asia, says, "Elvis is recognised for his zeal and lucidity in delivering compelling, consistent, and cross-pollinating brand experiences. I see him uniquely positioned to take Cheil to the next level, empower our creative squad, and continue to strengthen our unique Idea Engineering process."

On his new role, Sequeira says, "I liked what Jae Kim, managing director, Cheil India, said when we met - that he wanted Cheil to be an 'idea heaven' over the next few years. It is something I vibe with, and I love the clarity of the vision. I know what a tremendous task Alok (Agrawal) and his team have accomplished in creating, consolidating, and getting Cheil to where it is today."

"In a way, my job is to help evolve the agency and try new things. Alok and I both agree that fearlessness is going to drive the agency forward and that was reason enough to start off what I believe will be a beautiful partnership," he adds.

Sequeira, currently a director with Good Morning Films, has spent two decades in what he calls the business of fun, where he has worked on a multitude of brands that cut across diverse categories - starting from those that needed to be created, to those that were gigantic in scope and scale.

Sequeira began his career as a copy trainee at Clea Advertising, followed by brief stints at Mudra and Interact-Vision. During his seven-year-long stint at Lowe Lintas, he worked on brands such as Bajaj, Jet Airways, Johnson & Johnson, Shaw Wallace, and ICICI Prudential. This was followed with his stint at Percept/H, where he did some award winning work, and helped the agency win new businesses.

Sequeira joined JWT Delhi, where he was vice-president and executive creative director, heading businesses such as Hero Honda, Sony, Pepsi and Monster.com, before joining Good Morning Films in late 2010.
