Anurag Gupta set to join WPP

Anurag Gupta, who was chief strategy officer at Mudra Max, and who recently put in his papers, is ready to join WPP, a global media and communication services company, in a regional role for its Procter & Gamble (P&G) account. P&G deals in consumer products in pharmaceuticals, cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet supplies.

Gupta, whose exact designation is yet to be decided, will be based in Singapore, and will report to the head of the P&G business of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Confirming the news to afaqs!, Gupta says, "In WPP, I will be required to project the capabilities of WPP as a group for P&G, in the APAC regions." This will include looking after various activations for P&G such as digital, retail and shopper marketing at a regional level.

Talking about the reason for leaving Mudra Max, Gupta says, "This is a much larger role, and will give greater exposure as I will be working for the APAC regions."

Gupta, who has a management degree from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, has spent 14 years in the advertising, marketing and brand management sectors, and has worked in various agencies such as Grey Worldwide, Lowe, and Draft Worldwide, Kenya, before joining OgilvyAction as president. It is to be noted that he played a crucial role in establishing OgilvyAction.

Gupta later switched to Mudra Max as president, strategic initiatives and integration in 2008, and was eventually promoted in May 2010, to his last appointment.

He had the opportunity to work with various brands like Unilever, ICICI Bank, Motorola, Vodafone, Castrol, and Nestle, among others.

Gupta has worked on various campaigns such as Lifebuoy Swasthya Chetna, Clinic Plus Mother-Daughter Day, Madhya Pradesh Grameen Yuva Kendra, and Sunlight Quest for Kenyan National Dress.
