They will report to Nima Namchu, ECD, Contract Advertising, and look after brands such as Domino's, Jaypee Group, and portions of Whirlpool and NIIT businesses.
Contract Advertising has roped in Somnath Chakraborty and Azazul Haque as senior creative directors. Earlier, Chakraborty was senior creative director, Rediffusion-Y&R. Haque, on the other hand, hails from McCann Erickson, where he was creative director.
Based in Delhi, both Chakraborty and Haque will report to Nima Namchu, executive creative director, Contract Advertising.
Confirming the appointments to afaqs!, Namchu says, "They will work together and will head a team of about 15 people. Collectively, they will work to maintain the creative qualities of the brands assigned to them. Chakraborty and Haque will also work towards generating more revenue for the agency. They will work to help Contract Advertising become bigger and better as an agency."
Their mandate will primarily involve looking after brands such as Domino's, Jaypee Group, and some part of the Whirlpool and NIIT businesses.
Namchu adds, "Having worked with some good agencies, they have done some pretty good work creatively. Moreover, our creative chemistry clicked. I have also noticed that they are hungry to do good work and win respect in the market, which was definitely a strong reason for me to hire them."
Both Chakraborty and Haque echoed the same reasons for joining Contract Advertising. According to them, this is a new opportunity which is better and broader, both in terms of role and responsibility.
Chakraborty has more than 13 years of experience in the industry. After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in visual arts from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, and a Master's degree in fine arts from College of Art, Delhi, Chakraborty started his career with Nexus Advertising Agency in Kolkata. He moved to SSC&B Lintas in 1999. Subsequently, he shifted to Mudra India, and then to Lowe, where he spent one-and-a-half years. After Lowe, he joined TBWA and finally, Rediffusion-Y&R. At Rediffusion, he handled brands such as LG and MTS.
Haque has more than 10 years of experience in the field of advertising. After graduating in English from Venkateswara College, Delhi, he started his career with Lowe and then shifted to Bates 141. He has also worked for Publicis India, Mudra India, and Rediffusion-Y&R, before joining McCann Erickson. He has worked with brands such as Nescafe, Coke, Odomos and Odonil.
