Imran Khan joins Law & Kenneth as branch head, Mumbai

Khan moves in from Concept Communications, where he was strategy and business head, looking after the business development and new ventures of the group.

Law & Kenneth has appointed Imran Khan as business director and branch head, Mumbai. He will join the agency on August 1 and will report to Anil Nair, chief executive officer, Law & Kenneth.

Khan steps into the shoes of Neeraja Kale, who quit the agency in May.

His immediate mandate will involve looking after the businesses handled by the agency's Mumbai office. Khan's responsibility will involve looking after existing clients, consolidating the agency's businesses and acquiring new ones.

Confirming the news to afaqs!, Nair says, "Khan is a guy who has amazing versatility. I am sure he will help Law & Kenneth to grow and take the agency to the next level."

Khan says, "Law & Kenneth is looking for the next level of leadership. Somehow, it found me suitable for the role. I would like to focus on helping the organisation grow organically, mature the relationship with the existing clients and get new interesting businesses."

With almost 15 years of experience in advertising and marketing, Khan started his career with a part-time job at a production house called Gyan Correa Films while he was still completing graduation in commerce at SIES College, Mumbai.

After graduating, he entered the world of advertising with Clea Advertising. Later, he moved on to Art Advertising, where he worked on Anchor Electricals.

Subsequently, he joined Publicis India as an account executive, and handled clients such as Garnier Nutrisse and Siemens. It is to be noted that he played a role in Publicis, acquiring STAR Gold as its client.

A year later, he moved to Ogilvy and worked there for more than three years, handling brands such as Cadbury's (Five Star and Perk) and Globus. In 2000, Khan joined McCann Erickson and was there for three years. In McCann Erickson, Khan handled a large portfolio of brands including Stayfree, Shaw Wallace, Director's Special, Royal Challenge, Boots, Clearasil, Sweetex and Strepsils.

Later, he moved to Rediffusion-Y&R Mumbai as director, client servicing. At Rediffusion, he worked on three key brands, Indian Oil Corporation (Xtra Premium, Xtra Mile, Servo, Swagat and XtraCare), the Taj Group of Hotels and Wyeth (Anacin and Disprin).

Subsequently, Khan wanted to test his marketing skills and joined Private Treaties (The Times of India) as chief manager. He was responsible for complete brand building and creating a brand portfolio for Private Treaties before moving on to Concept Communications.
