Ogilvy India has appointed Joono Simon as executive creative director. Simon, who will be based in Bengaluru, will report to Rajiv Rao and Abhijit Avasthi, national creative directors, Ogilvy India.
His immediate mandate will involve looking after brands such as Allen Solly, IBM and Future Group, which are being handled from the Bengaluru office of Ogilvy, and to develop creative communications for them.
Talking to afaqs!, Simon says, "I am excited about joining an agency with an unparalleled legacy of creating some of the most loved and respected brands of the country. I will build on this great legacy by doing some compelling work for some of the great brands based in the South."
In an official communiqué, Prateek Srivastava, president, Ogilvy South, says, "We are sure that under Simon's creative leadership, and with the guidance of our NCDs, Ogilvy Bengaluru's creative reputation will shine brighter than ever before."
Avasthi says, "For many years, we have been hearing from industry peers about Simon, who's got an interesting point of view on things. Rao and I finally got to meet him and hear him out earlier this year. We figured he was the guy we've been looking for. I believe it's an association that will be extremely productive and satisfying for our clients."
Simon, who has more than 18 years of experience, has worked with agencies such as Contract Advertising, R K Swamy BBDO, SSC&B Lintas, and MAA Bozell in his early years. After that, he has worked with JWT, Chennai, as senior vice-president and senior creative director. Later, he shifted to Mudra South to oversee the agency's Bengaluru, Chennai and Kochi offices.
