2018 Global Award winners will be announced this November at New York City and Sydney, Australia.
New York Festivals Global Awards, honoring healthcare and wellness advertising, has announced the 2018 Global Awards live judging session in India. The first Global Awards live judging session in India will be hosted by the Akali brothers – Amit and Praful Akali – from Medulla Communications.
The Akali brothers have recruited a panel of industry experts who will assemble on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 to review entries. The panel includes India’s biggest creative leaders from mainline and healthcare advertising including Kainaz Karmakar, group creative director, Ogilvy India (West); Parixit Bhattacharya, managing partner – creative, TBWAIndia; Pallavi Chakravarti, ECD, Taproot; Rajesh Rai, ECD, India, McCann Health; managing partner, Havas Life Sorento; Jaideep Mahajan, national creative head, Rediffusion; Abinandan Bose, creative director, Medulla; and others.
Praful Akali, the founder and managing director of Medulla Communications, says in a press release, “India is really shining on the global healthcare advertising stage. For a country with probably less than 3% of the global healthcare advertising revenues, three Indian campaigns have won a Grand Prix at the top three healthcare advertising award shows in the last two years alone, we’ve had agency of the year showings at these award shows, and a lot more.”
Amit Akali, the chief creative officer, of Medulla Communications, says in a press release, “There is a vast variety of talent in healthcare advertising in India and we felt it would be really interesting and a great learning experience to have all these people in one room discussing some of the best work in healthcare advertising through the Global Awards.”

Praful and I discussed it immediately after last year’s Executive Jury session and I’m happy that it came to fruition. The expansion of the Global Awards live sessions expands our roots a bit further around the world so entries from all over can be viewed and discussed by the top minds in healthcare & wellness and pharma advertising by region and varying cultures. The result is an exported version of their bar for creative excellence, with the side benefit of collaboration and potential future partnerships to tackle additional local or continental issues and initiatives.”
The Globals organise annual live judging sessions around the globe to review digital-based works and collateral materials that support a campaign, and which cannot be judged online. Live sessions are hosted at prominent international healthcare communication agencies and allow jurors to examine in detail multi-paged works including: sales kits, direct mail, brochures, point of purchase displays, and annual reports and select entries that will achieve shortlist status. This will be the first live judging session for the Globals in Asia.
Jurors participating in the Global Awards live session will review innovative entries from the healthcare and wellness space representing emergingtrends that push the creative envelope and advance the brand. For 2018, the Global awards has organised five additional live Grand Jury sessions with international healthcare agencies in Chicago, Johannesburg, London, Sao Paulo, and Sydney.
