Entries for YoungGuns Awards 2003 close on September 19

This year’s participants stand a chance of winning one of two trips to the YoungGuns Festival in Sydney, while the overall winner will win US$ 5,000

Sending out a final call to all young creative advertising and design professionals under 30 years of age, the YoungGuns Award committee has announced that the last date for sending in entries for this year's YoungGuns International Advertising & Design Awards is Friday, September 19. An official communiqué states that this year's participants stand a chance of winning one of two trips to the YoungGuns Festival, scheduled to be held in Sydney from October 13-18. The release adds that the overall winner will take home prize money worth US$ 5,000. The entry kit can be downloaded from http://www.ygaward.com.

The YoungGuns might be one of the ‘youngest' among international advertising awards (the awards have been running for the past three years), but forum has already thrown up young creative talents from around the world, some of who might well go on to become tomorrow's creative mavens. For instance, past YoungGuns winners include Antony Nelson (Advertising YoungGun of the Year 2002), co-creator of the famous Club 18-30 campaign, which claimed the Grand Prix at Cannes last year. As an interesting aside, JWT India's work for Spice picked up a Silver Bullet at the YoungGuns Awards 2002 - the only award won by an Indian agency at last year's YoungGuns Festival.

For India, YoungGuns 2003 is even more significant as O&M India's Group President & National Creative Director Piyush Pandey is part of the 14-member Advertising jury. "The jury is the key to any award," a previous press release quoting Jason Bernard Williams of YoungGuns had said. "With YoungGuns, our jury is truly international. Its quality, experience and unique perspective are the reason that people enter and also why the award has so much credibility." For the record, in the Advertising category, Pandey co-jurists include Mark Tutssel (Leo Burnett, Chicago), Antony Nelson (Fallon, London), Richard Maddocks (Colenso BBDO, Auckland), Dejan Rasic (BMF, Sydney), Kash Sree (Leo Burnett, Chicago), Jeff Labbe (Leo Burnett, Chicago), Renee Lim (Saatchi & Saatchi, Hong Kong), Eduardo Lima (F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, Brazil), Dave Bell (KesselsKramer, Amsterdam), Pann Lim (Kinetic, Singapore), David Bell (AXIS Media School, New Zealand), Martin Ringqvist (Forsman & Bodenfors, Sweden) and Maurice Wee (Saatchi & Saatchi, Hong Kong).

Speaking about the opportunity for young creatives from India, Pandey says, "It's a great forum for young creatives from around the world. Each year, the YoungGuns receive entries from around 50 different countries, and they put together one of the world's best juries. I think this is a good opportunity for youngsters in India to make a mark internationally. I am really hoping to see some Indian entries in the YoungGuns 2003 winners list." © 2003 agencyfaqs!
