OPPO India is having a busy year...

OPPO India is clearly zooming in on the pulse of India’s youth with its latest campaign. The smartphone manufacturer has roped in Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor as its brand ambassador for their line of Reno phones. Ranbir stars in an ad for Reno2, which also features Katrina Kaif and Badshah in situations where an OPPO phone enables them to zoom in and take a closer look at things. The integrated campaign is live across TV and digital platforms.

This is the first ad that has been released under the leadership of the new marketing head — Sumit Walia. Sumit Walia, vice-president, product and marketing, OPPO India said in a press release, “At OPPO, we have always aspired to bring distinctive and innovative offerings to our customers. With the Reno series, we have taken it a step further with a brand-new product concept, design philosophy, and a communication model that is tailored to millennials.”

This is not the first time that OPPO has chosen to emphasise its zoom feature. Earlier this year, OPPO India ran this surreal ad for OPPO's Reno phones, to draw attention to this very feature of the phone’s camera along with its supporting technology.

In the first half of this year, the company partnered with Instagram for a campaign titled ‘Challenge Your Perspective’ and the Indian version was ‘Challenge Yourself’. A #ChallengeYourself contest, initiated on Instagram to crowdsource consumer engagement was part of this campaign.

OPPO also teamed up with Vogue India to shoot its July 2019 Cover using the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom smartphone. This editorial experiment was an attempt to integrate technology, art and fashion, while creating a visual masterpiece with Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal and Aditya Roy Kapur.

All of OPPO's marketing messages this year have been geared towards their camera offering. The brand has collaborated with a variety of brands across categories. Here's another campaign the brand ran that focussed on the camera.

OPPO's objective is to encourage a user to replace his/her DSLR camera with an OPPO smartphone. Katrina Kaif, Badshah and Ranbir Kapoor aren’t the only celebrities who have lent their name to the brand. In April this year, OPPO launched an ad campaign titled #BeBrilliant in association with Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan. That campaign’s TVC highlighted the features of the OPPO F11 Pro, more specifically, the 48MP camera and its performance in low light conditions.

OPPO isn’t the only brand talking about the zoom feature on its smartphones. Earlier this year, Xiaomi released a set of 3 ads starring Ranveer Singh, for its 'Note Kiya Jaye' campaign. The campaign was conceptualised by Xiaomi's in-house brand marketing team and it highlights the phone's 48MP camera and zoom-in feature.
