With stand-up comic Ravi Gupta, boAt shed its China roots and accusations of white labelling to tout its India cred. Now, it has attracted a rather unlikely ally to reinforce its message: FoodPharmer.
FoodPharmer, the popular deinfluencer known for calling out the misleading claims of food companies, is the online persona of Revant Himatsingka. He turned up at boAt’s Noida factory and with the consumer electronics brand’s chief product officer Shyam Vedantam tested a few features of the Prime 701 ANC.
Surprisingly, Himatsingka appeared satisfied. From the enhanced calling experience to the distinction between active noise cancellation and hybrid ANC, and even the product’s range, everything seemed to pass his scrutiny.
Brands routinely employ influencers to market their products, but the decision to enlist someone renowned for exposing the deception of food brands to endorse electronic goods feels out of place.
boAt’s efforts did not end there. It secured a front-page slot in Hindustan Times, where it presented a detailed visual breakdown of its Airdopes, offering readers a transparent view of what lies inside the earbuds and how the technology works.
