Timex becomes the official timing partner at 3 Gold Label Indian Distance Running Events

Global watch major Timex today announced its association as the Timing Partner and Official Watch with the three Gold Label distance running events, promoted by Procam International -- the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, the TCS World 10K Bangalore and the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon -- at the Shree Kanteerva Stadium in the presence of running enthusiasts and leading athletes who are going to be a part of the prestigious event.

This association kick-starts with the TCS World 10K Bangalore 2011 and continues for the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon. On the occasion, Mr V D Wadhwa, Managing Director & CEO, Timex India unveiled the race timer with the Timex logo, which will lead the athletes during the course of the much-awaited World's Premier 10K Run, scheduled for 5th June (Sunday).

On the occasion, Mr Wadhwa said, "We are truly delighted with this partnership as Timex has a long-standing association with marathons internationally as well. Associating with the three prestigious Gold Label distance running events of the country, exemplifies Timex's dedication towards promoting sports not just globally but specifically in India. Talking about the World 10 Bangalore, Mr Wadhwa added, "A 10K race demands a high octane combination of endurance and speed which are the qualities of Timex. Over the period of four years, the event has also carved a niche for itself in the realm of distance running with some superlative performances from the elite runners from all over the world. Therefore it makes perfect sense for us to be associated with one of the largest and most prestigious 10K events."

According to Anil Singh, Managing Director Procam nternational, which promotes the races in India, "we are truly happy with Timex coming on board as the official timing partner of all the three races in India. The fact that all three events are Gold Label, makes us doubly happy that a brand with the heritage of Timex has joined hands with running in India."

Over the years, TIMEX has always encouraged running and has been closely involved with Marathons and been the global sponsor for Triathlons internationally with the Timex Multisport Team competing in Triathlon competitions worldwide. Ironman is a classic case of a long-term TIMEX association which has fuelled extreme sports and the concept of racing against time for years now. Timex also partnered ICC as the "official product licensee ship of ICC World Cup 2011" and had launched a special edition ICC World Cup collection.

Along with attaining the official watch title, Timex is looking at bringing a slew of specialised sporting watches into the country. With more that half a million serious runners in the main markets, this would be another guided missile in the Timex's marketing armoury, making it the clear leader in this segment.
