The IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has signed up with specialist sports management agency Spoment Ventures. Spoment Ventures is a Singapore headquartered agency that focus on sports and entertainment business. Ashok Karanth, Director Spoment said, " We have come on board to help RCB become a 365 day brand rather than just an 45 day brand. We will create numerous properties to engage with Corpoarte Audiences, Youth and Families using sports lifestyle as a platform."
The ﬁrst property has already rolled out as the RCB Corporate Cricket Championship. The Corporate championship is very different from the existing corporate tournaments with many innovations. Its also the ﬁrst championship to have its ﬁnals being played at the famed Chinnaswamy Stadium under lights. One of the many innovations include the inclusion of an RCB player as a super substitute for semi ﬁnals and Finals. This year the trump card or super sub is legendary spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan.
Corporate teams will have the right to use Muralitharan for one over during the match if they wish. All matches are being played on high quality turf wickets at KSCA facilities. "This property is an annual property and will grow in stature and size every year", said Ashok. Spoment is also currently studying the ticketing and corporate hospitality business model of RCB to help the team increase its revenues from the operations.
As the next IPL season draws closer most teams seem to start preparations.
