The marketing campaign used for promoting the Man Booker prize winner The White Tiger, has won the Excellence Awardee of Asian Multimedia Publishing Award 2009 in the category of Best use of multimedia marketing by a book publisher while noted journalist Nalin Mehta's book, India on Television has won the award for the Best book / Best writer on Asian media.
This is the first time that publishing industry has been acknowledged for its marketing efforts. Nalin's book traces the evolution of satellite television in India and how it effected major changes in political culture, the state and expressions of Indian nationhood. The second award conferred upon HarperCollins India acknowledges the marketing efforts in publishing industry. It is the first time in the history of publishing in India that a publishing house is internationally felicitated for a marketing campaign designed for marketing a book. The prestigious award incorporates the best Asian Book Publishing Awards and the Asian Corporate Communication Awards under seven categories.
