Rajat Jain has joined Mobile2Win India Ltd. as its new CEO and MD. Jain was earlier working with The Walt Disney Company India as its MD. He will be partnering with the firm’s existing investors and co-founders, Gopala Krishnan and Rajiv Hiranandani, and will help to accelerate Mobile2Win’s role globally.
Mobile2Win is a Mumbai based mobile VAS services firm working with more than 25 leading media brands, including ‘Hindustan Times’ and Sony, and has created solutions for more than 100 international consumer brands such as Perfetti, Coca-Cola and HSBC. The firm is a Red Herring Asia 100 winner. It has strong technology platforms and offers connectivity via its short-codes 8558, 2525, 4321, 4848, 4242.

Jain’s strong background in media and telecom is seen as the icing on the cake by Mobile2win. Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Mobile2Win co-founder Rajiv Hiranandani said, “He’s going to be working very closely with us and his huge expertise in carving out good marketing and business strategies for Mobile2Win will help it consolidate its position in the mobile space in India and globally, too.”
Jain said that his interest in the mobile industry is driven by the creative convergence of entertainment, telecommunications, media and advertising that is happening in the whole world of mobile value added services. “I will be providing direction and strategy to Mobile2Win and will help it grow tremendously. I am thrilled to join the industry and feel that mobile is the most exciting place to be,” he said.
Jain quit Walt Disney at the end of March 2007. He had been associated with Walt Disney for about three years since July 2004. He has been in the entertainment industry for the last two decades, contributing to the media and telecom sectors through roles held in various companies.
At Walt Disney India, Jain had, from its inception, put together strategy and business plans and a strong management team. Jain also led Disney India to focus on content development and deployment through the online and mobile platforms and to develop the retail and consumer products business.
Jain has worked with Sony Entertainment Television as executive president and business head for its movie channel, SET Max, during 2001-04. Under his leadership, SET Max clinched the huge sports deal of the ICC Cricket telecast rights for 2002-07, including the rights to stream the ICC World Cup 2007 matches.
Before that, Jain was senior vice-president, business operations at ASC Enterprises, an Essel Group company, from May 1999 to April 2001. He started his career in March 1987 as a product manager at Hindustan Lever Ltd (now HUL) and continued working with them till November 1993.
After this, he moved on to be a marketing manager with Benckiser India Pvt. Ltd, and he worked there till 1997. He has also headed Modi Telstra Ltd as vice-president of marketing, sales, strategy and business development; he worked with Modi Telstra from November 1997 to May 1999.
