Info Edge India has revamped its job site, Naukri.com. The site now bears a cleaner, de-cluttered look and has an improved job search feature. Hitesh Oberoi, COO and director, Naukri.com, says, “With the new user interface, Naukri.com is trying to bring existing features more upfront as members used to miss out on various existing features like job messenger.”

As of now, most of the changes have been done for job seekers; the sections for recruiters will be revamped in the next three-four months.

Apart from changing the look and feel of the site, Naukri.com has also worked on improving the technology of the site. It is now using Web 2.0 technologies like Ajax (which automatically updates a page without refreshing) to make the site more interactive and fast. Vibhore Sharma, senior vice-president, product and engineering, Naukri.com, says, “From now onwards a user can change his profile details, such as his mobile number, just by clicking on the edit link; there is no need to open a whole new page for it.”

On the search front, Naukri.com is trying to offer targeted and personalised search for job seekers. For example, a job seeker can now search jobs in a particular salary and in a particular industry by using features like Expected Salary and Category Search. A member can save his search settings and use it with already existing features like Job Messenger, Search Agents and RSS feeds (updates sent through syndication).

Naukri.com allows a member to save multiple search criteria. Based on the different search criteria set by a member, he can receive job alerts on his email or Job Messenger (on the My Naukri page) or on a RSS reader.

Info Edge does not have immediate plans to revamp its other classified sites, Jeevansathi.com (matrimony) and 99acres.com (real estate). Oberoi says, “99acres.com is a more marketing-oriented site, so the focus is more on adding features that can help property dealers and sellers to showcase their products, and not Web 2.0.” Recently, 99acres introduced video ads and bigger banner size ads on the site.

The company will launch a new TVC in three-four months to promote the revamped site. It is also planning offline activities in the coming months, including job fairs in cities such as Chandigarh, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
