VSNL’s broadband service will premiere the latest movies online in a tie-up with Yash Raj Films
Telecommunications and Internet service provider VSNL, which was renamed Tata Communications Ltd in October 2007, has announced a movie tie-up with production house Yash Raj Films. The tie-up includes online streaming of recently released Yash Raj films such as Aaja Nach Le and Chak De! India on VSNL’s Internet service, Tata Indicom Broadband.
Tata Indicom Broadband subscribers will be able to watch a movie for Rs 25, with a validity of 24 hours, on the portal, www.tataindicombroadband.in.

“The web premiere of this blockbuster (Chak De! India) reinforces the power of the Internet today. It is a proud moment for us to be partners in this endeavour to provide the best for our customers,” said Shankar Prasad, president, Tata Indicom Retail Business Unit, in a statement. A company spokesperson said that the tie-up with Yash Raj Films is a part of the company’s larger re-branding strategy.
The Tata Indicom Broadband website contains an entertainment section with movies, music and music videos. The Learning Zone has educational activities for children and a free encyclopaedia. The section, Lal Kitab, provides answers to user’s queries on day to day issues. News and information on spirituality, Yoga and fashion complete the content. Other services on the site include Internet telephony, roaming dial-up and premium mail services.
