Nautanki.tv, an online video content network, has started a video rating system called Online Video Rating Points (OVRP) to judge the popularity of the video content and pre-roll or post-roll ads that run on its network.

The OVRP is used to rate each video every week on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest rating. Parameters such as the number of times a video is watched and the number of times a video is displayed in a week over the Nautanki.tv network are used to rate a video. The OVRP also takes into account the number of clicks a pre-roll or post-roll ad receives.

Explaining the reason for launching a rating system, Sunil R Nair, chief executive officer and founder, Nautanki.tv, says, “With many video content owners like Fashion TV, Zoom TV, Bollywood Hungama and eight other channels joining us in the next two months, we have realised that it is important to figure out what type of content works and what doesn’t, so that we can justify our pricing for pre-roll and post-roll ads on Nautanki.tv.”

Starting from July 1, Nautanki will publish OVRP data every week and the data will be available free to all content owners associated with Nautanki.tv.

Nautanki.tv is an online TV channel network which allows TV channels and users to upload their video content on its site. Currently, the site offers videos in Hindi and English only, but it will launch video programming in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali in the coming months.

Similar to an ad network, both publishers (website or blog owners) and advertisers are associated with the website. Either Nautanki.tv or the content owners tie up with advertisers to showcase their 10-30 seconds pre-roll or post-roll ads in the videos. Publishers can subscribe to the video feed of Nautanki.tv. Videos are displayed on the publisher’s site through a video widget, which is like a small media player capable of streaming videos.
