Reliance Entertainment, T-Series and Hungama Mobile have entered into a strategic alliance to co-own the content produced by Big Music
Reliance Entertainment, T-Series and Hungama Mobile have entered into a strategic alliance, according to which the content owned and produced by Big Music in future will be co-owned by all three companies.
T-Series will handle the physical and traditional media distribution of the Big Music content through DVDs, CDs, radio and television. Hungama Mobile will be responsible for the distribution of the content on digital media such as mobile, the Internet, DTH and IPTV platforms.
Hungama will also leverage its partnership with Apple's online music store, iTunes and Real Networks-owned music streaming service, Rhapsody, to distribute the Big Music content.
In an official communiqué, Bhushan Kumar, chairperson and managing director, T-Series, says, "Our association with Big Music will be of great significance to the entire music industry. From physical distribution models to opportunities for radio and TV publishing and digital formats, this alliance gives us an opportunity to explore different domains of revenue generation and reach that will be mutually beneficial for all partners in this process."
Neeraj Roy, managing director and chief executive officer, Hungama Digital Media, says, "As consumers warm up to new formats of entertainment, especially in the digital domain, this is the right time for the Indian music industry to build an eco-system that will work towards satiating all forms of consumer touch points."
