The agency will also handle a part of digital creative duties
afaqs! has learnt from reliable industry sources that Dentsu Digital, the digital arm of the advertising agency Dentsu India, has won the digital media account of Suzlon.com. Dentsu Digital will handle digital media planning and buying functions for the brand.
It is learnt that apart from media duties, Dentsu Digital will also handle a part of the digital creative business as well. Dentsu will share the creative duties with another agency - a decision on which is still awaited.
Apparently, Dentsu Digital will soon start working on the creative projects. It is expected that various digital marketing formats - online display advertising, social and search marketing - will be employed in the next Suzlon.com campaign.
The Suzlon account was earlier handled by G2 Direct and Digital, a part of the Grey Group. The agency had won a bronze award at Goafest 2010 for their banner ad campaign on Suzlon Energy. A windmill was displayed inside the banner ad served on a dark Web page. When the user moves the cursor close to the banner ad, the windmill starts rotating to power the Web page. The idea was to highlight the immense potential of wind energy, and the benefits of saving it.
As per an industry estimate, Suzlon spends about Rs 2 crore on digital advertising. It could not be ascertained at the time of filing this story, whether Suzlon intended to increase spends on digital marketing activities.
When contacted the official spokesperson from Suzlon informs afaqs! "I would like to confirm that we are currently in a pitch process for our digital account and have not finalized on any agency yet, though there are a number of agencies that have been part of this process. We will confirm to you on the agency once the pitch is complete."
