Advertisers will be offered to serve text (35 characters) or graphic ads on Android-based applications
Singapore based mobile media firm BuzzCity, which runs a mobile ad network, will enable marketers to insert ads inside the mobile phone applications that are compatible with Google's open source mobile operating system, called Android.
"Advertisers will be offered to serve text (35 characters) or graphic ads (of various sizes) on Android-based applications, which are available or affiliated to BuzzCity's mobile ad network," says Dr. KF Lai, chief executive officer, BuzzCity, in a conversation with afaqs!.
Developers create mobile applications and submit it on M.Djuzz.com, the gaming and mobile application store of BuzzCity, where more than 7,000 apps are available for different mobile phone platforms such as Android and Symbian.
He further elucidates, "In case publishers or developers want to monetise their apps through ads, we will offer a special software development kit (SDK) to them, which can be used to embed ads inside their applications." The company offers SDK for Android and Blackberry apps.
The mobile company will share 65 per cent of advertising revenue earned on specific Android applications with the application developer or publisher.
Currently, BuzzCity delivers less than 1 per cent of total ad impressions it serves on Android-based phones in India.
BuzzCity plans to tap telecom, education, entertainment, travel and automobile related advertisers for Android-based apps.
It is important to note that the Android-based mobile phone market is still in its nascent stage in India. However, as more Android-based phones are made available in India, the Android-based apps market is expected to flourish.
Mishra agrees and says, "The size of Android-based apps market is not very big as of now. However, in the next six months, we predict that the market will be flooded with Android based phones/applications and that is the reason for us to launch the software development kit (SDK) platform for Android-based phones after the successful launch of SDK for BlackBerry."
Globally, more than 100,000 applications are available for the Android platform.
