afaqs! has learnt from reliable sources in the industry that Rediff.com has appointed Harshad Hardikar as head of the online sales (e-commerce) division. Hardikar was vice-president at Ogilvy One, the direct and digital marketing arm of the Ogilvy network. He is currently serving his notice period at Ogilvy, and will join Rediff.com in the second week of September.
Rediff.com entered into the daily deals business with a dedicated destination called Dealhojaye.rediff.com a few months back. Dealhojaye.rediff.com service is available in about 40 cities, including Bhopal, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Nashik. Rediff.com also owns Shopping.rediff.com, a catalogue e-commerce property as well.
According to the information available on Linkedin.com, Hardikar has more than 13 years of experience. This is his second stint with Ogilvy. He joined OgilvyOne in 2003 for the first time and then moved to ICICI Bank in 2005. He later moved to Loyalty Solutions and Research, an ICICI Venture-funded company. He quit his job in ICICI Bank in 2007 and rejoined OgilvyOne. Hardikar has also worked with iContract, the digital arm of Contract Advertising.
