Twitter undergoes revamp

The new features are expected to attract more advertisers and will appear across both mobile and desktop versions of the site.

Micro-blogging website Twitter.com has unveiled a design change in an attempt to make it simpler, user-friendly, and attract more advertisers. The new site features re-designed profile pages, and is now based around four key areas: Home, Connect, Discover and Me. The new features will appear across the online and mobile versions of the site.

Twitter undergoes revamp
The 'Connect' tab allows users to keep track of who has followed or mentioned them, re-Tweeted one of their Tweets, as well as new followers. A new introduction to the website, the 'Discover' tab, features topical and popular discussions from around the web. The 'Me' tab allows users to craft a bio, add pictures, share locations, link to their personal websites or blogs, and add information they want to share.

A new 'Tweet' tab has been introduced on the right hand corner of the launch page. It allows users to send messages instantly within Twitter. Users can now upload photos, add their locations, and link to videos and news stories using this tab.

As part of the revamp, the site now allows marketers to have enhanced brand pages, which are distinctive from user profile pages. The new design also enables brands to customise their pages with large header images. They can also feature a Tweet with a photo or video.

According to figures released by Twitter in September 2011, the website has 100 million active users logging in at least once a month, and 50 million active users every day.
