Online music portal iMusti.com has tied up with Samsung India to develop video applications exclusively for Samsung Smart TV consumers. Samsung Smart TV provides access to the internet and a wide range of applications through its Smart Hub feature.
Marking a foray into the video market, the online portal will offer an application, MoDVoD (Movie on Demand/Video on Demand), through which a wide collection of entertainment will be available to the subscribers for streaming. The library will host over 5,000 titles across multiple genres and languages in digital quality.
Subscribers can choose from erstwhile movies, popular contemporary movies, television shows, regional compilation of songs and movies (such as Marathi and Bengali), and religious discourses. iMusti.com will develop 12 more applications within the next one year for Samsung.
The application is available at the Samsung App store, featured on the Smart TV, for a subscription rate of US$7.99 per month. To provide high-end quality and fast delivery of content, iMusti has also partnered with Level 3 as its content delivery partner (CDP).
Commenting on the tie-up, Samir D Khandwala, founder and CEO, iMusti, says, "This partnership enables us to penetrate into the popular video segment. Our apps will provide holistic experience to consumers and offer Bollywood songs, movies, news and regional content."
iMusti.com also plans to expand its content base and include content in various Indian regional languages. Khandwala adds, "We will soon include exclusive content in different languages to cover various consumer segments."
Speaking about the significance of content, Raj Kumar Rishi, vice-president, AV business, Samsung India, says, "Content for Smart TV buyers is increasingly becoming a strong trigger for purchase, and our tie-up with iMusti.com will fulfil that customer need."
