Google introduces Google Play, an online store for all digital content

Google has introduced Google Play, an online store for all digital content - music, movies, books and apps. Google Play eliminates the hassle of moving files between computers and syncing devices and one can find, enjoy and share content on the web or an Android phone or tablet.

With Google Play, one can store up to 20,000 songs for free and buy new tracks, download more than 4,50,000 Android apps and games, browse eBooks and rent movies, including new releases and HD titles.

With the development, Android Market, Google Music and the Google eBookstore will now be a part of Google Play. The Android Market on the Android device will now be upgraded to the Google Play Store over the next few days. In countries where videos, books and music apps are available, the same will be upgraded to Google Play Movies, Google Play Books and Google Play Music apps. The music, movies, books and apps already purchased will continue to be available through Google Play.

In the US, music, movies, books and Android apps are available in Google Play; whereas in Canada and the UK, movies, books and Android apps are available; in Australia, it is books and apps and in Japan, movies and apps are available. Everywhere else, Android apps will be available on Google Play, the blog announced.
