DDB Mudra shines on #MudraDay

On its 34th birthday DDB Mudra launched a social media campaign through which 34 lesser known facts about the group were made public.

It is not everyday that one gets to know little known facts about an advertising agency. DDB Mudra provided that opportunity. Celebrating its 34 years, on the March 25, the agency ran a social media campaign putting 34 awesome facts about the Group, which no one knows. The facts were put on the company's Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter pages

Celebrating Mudra Day, the campaign also got Madhukar Kamath, Group CEO and MD, DDB Mudra Group, to do his first tweet on his account @kamathmadhukar. The campaign features facts like Mudra's Kochi office was behind the tagline God's Own Country for Kerala. Besides, the campaign also had tweets about Mudra's relationship with DDB that began in 1993. Besides, a picture with all the founding members was also put up as a part of the campaign. All the tweets were supported with the hashtag
#MudraDay
.

Speaking about the idea behind the campaign, Kamath says that Mudra has always been a socially aware and active organisation. "And owing to our strong social footprints, we launched this campaign for our social media audience to give them more about the foundation of the company and how DDB Mudra has become what it is today," he adds.

The agency has 2,148 followers on Twitter and has 3,639 fans on Facebook. As a part of the celebrations, which they call Mudra Day, a lot of other activities were also carried out across Mudra offices across the country.

In 1980, Mudra was founded by the visionary AG. Krishnamurthy (AGK), and the agency started with just one client - Vimal. Out of a small 500 square feet room in a building called Manikyam in Ahmedabad, with just 15 employees.

Rasna came in three years later, and Mudra was well on its way to create history. "Today we have a foot print in 15 leading cities and around 22 other locations, with over 1100 employees, 8 independent Business Units / Specialist Agencies, working with over 150 of the best known Clients and Brands in the Country," the agency states in a note.

Through Mudra Videotec, the company brought to Indian television, for the first time, some of the country's best known family serials like - Buniyaad, Rajani and others. Mudra also played a key role in the Reliance World Cup for Cricket in 1987 by sponsoring radio and television commentaries, when the Indian Cricket team played internationally.

In 1991, Mudra founded MICA, the Mudra Institute of Communications in Ahmadabad. Today it is the premier Management Institution in India for Communications Management. DDB first visited Mudra in 1990. Eventually, DDB picked up a 10 per cent stake in Mudra in 1993.

"On 31st October 2011, the Omnicom Group acquired Mudra and we became a proud member of DDB Worldwide. Having completed our integration into the global network, in a record time, we became the DDB Mudra Group on February 28, 2012," the company states.
