Vebbler goes political with the Ungli campaign

The home-grown personal networking platform aims to reach the masses with this campaign.

Vebbler, a home-grown personal networking platform, has launched its new election campaign titled "The Ungli Campaign". As a part of the campaign, a new feature has been introduced on Vebbler that will engage the Indian youth in quality conversations on various topics surrounding the upcoming elections and encourage them to vote.

Marking the Ungli campaign, Vebbler has also collaborated with the Band of Boys and launched a catchy, upbeat song called the 'Ungli Song' The joint initiative has also garnered support from renowned celebrities such as Arbaaz Khan, Sonu Sood, Ritesh Sidwani, Mini Mathur, Esha Deol, Prachi Desai, Kritika Kamra and Pooja Bedi, amongst others.

As a part of the campaign, Vebbler has also launched a dedicated microsite (http://ungli.net) that aims to become a one-stop online portal for all news and information regarding the Indian elections. People can follow election-related topics, join discussion forums, engage with local event as well as find out their polling booth location.

The campaign microsite comprises of four core sections. It includes discussion forums and polls to engage the youth of the India in conversations, a page for people to check the names and profiles of candidates standing in their constituencies, official parties and their profiles and media content to help people gain insight into the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, in order to get more like-minded people to have meaningful discussions, the platform has not restricted access of the microsite to only Vebbler users. People from other social media platforms can also access the site with their existing username and password.

Talking about the idea behind the Ungli campaign, Sahil Bhagat, founder, Vebbler, says, "Being an Indian social media platform, Vebbler aims to be an integral part of the social fabric of the country by building tools and features that engage the youth. Hence for this upcoming election, the idea is to make a difference to at least 1 million voters this year through this campaign."

To connect with the mass, Vebbler has collaborated with the Band of Boys for the song, along with other known Bollywood celebrities. The Ungli song also marks the comeback of the Band of Boys along with Sudhanshu and has Shibani Kashyap joining the band.

Vebbler is a 'personal network' from Mumbai, India. It is built with a mission to make connecting and sharing online similar to how our real world relationships work. It is built on a 'Crowd Layering Model' that enables people to connect with different types of relationships like friends, parents, teachers, colleagues and even bosses on one network itself in different layers, so that one aspect of a person's life does not spill into another.

Founded by Sahil Bhagat, Vebbler has been in development for over a year and was launched in private beta in August, 2013. It was opened for the public in October, 2013 and has grown to over 65,000 users from India and abroad. It aims to become a mobile-first company and is currently working on its iOS app that should be launched within a few months.
