Twitter introduces heart-shaped button for Twitterati

Twitter changes its 'star' icon for favourites to a heart-shaped one.

The popular micro-blogging platform Twitter gets even more user-friendly. Its 'star' icon for favourites has changed to a heart and will now be called 'likes'. Twitter found out recently that at times, the 'star' symbol could be confusing, especially to newcomers. Also, one may like a lot of things, but not everything qualifies to be one's favourite. Hence, the 'heart' symbol has been brought in place of the original 'star', as it is perceived to be a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is also more expressive, and enables one to convey a range of emotions and connect easily with people. According to some tests conducted by Twitter, it was found that people loved the 'heart' symbol more than the 'star'.

Twitter hopes that since users have embraced hearts in a big way on Periscope, the same replication across Twitter and Vine would be accepted by users which will eventually help them make it the common language for the global community.

One can see hearts on Twitter for iOS and Android, twitter.com, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, and on Tweets across the internet, as well as on the Vine Android app and website. November 6, one can see hearts on Twitter for iOS and Android, twitter.com, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, and on Tweets across the internet, as well as on the Vine Android app and website. Twitter also promises that users will be able to experience the same across Vine for iOS and Twitter for Mac really soon.
