DB Digital has also carved out two separate divisions - Content and a new video app venture platform.
DB Corp Limited (DBCL), India's largest print media company and home to flagship newspapers - Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar, Divya Marathi and Saurashtra Samachar - announced major changes in its digital business. With a view to develop and sharpen its focus on the digital business, DB Digital, the digital division of the Group, will be split into two segments namely Content and a new video app venture platform (FirstWall).
While the group websites will continue to operate under the Content division, DB Corp will set up a new video app venture platform of the group, which would be launched soon.
Further, Pradeep Singh has been appointed as the new business head of the digital business. Singh comes with an exhaustive experience of 20 years in various media houses like Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, Zee News, Zapak Digital Media, HT Media, Business Standard, Pioneer etc. In his current role, he will be responsible for driving revenue for the digital business arm of the Dainik Bhaskar Group.
The video app venture of the group, FirstWall, will be headed by Gyan Gupta, the former CEO of DB Digital. Gupta has been associated with the DB Group for more than eight years and has played an instrumental role in conceptualising multiple unique features and properties and introducing path-breaking initiatives for the brand. Gupta has also donned multiple leadership roles in the past three years ranging from business head to COO and CEO.
The two of them, in their individual roles, would be reporting to Pawan Agarwal, deputy managing director, DB Corp.
Commenting on the above development, Agarwal, says, "Both these junctures are equally important for us. While we entrust Gyan to lead the new venture, we welcome Pradeep to take our digital business forward. His exposure to various media functions and deep understanding of brands and categories will surely take DB Digital to newer heights".
