To OMD’s Priti Murthy, the biggest leap is to be bold and brave everyday

Life is about taking a quantum leap to break the everyday routine and do something extraordinary. Be it work, relationships or family, people are always looking out for newer experiences that enrich their lives. However, breaking the wheel of your daily rut is usually not an easy task, as people are so caught up in their monotonous schedules that they forget to turn their “Why’s into Why nots”.

&flix, the English movie channel from ZEEL, urges people to leap out of the ordinary as it celebrates its first anniversary. &flix believes in #EverydayLeaps that allow you to break away from the monotony and do something new, everyday. The Hollywood movie channel with its massive library of movies showcases a world of unlimited possibilities enabling viewers to #LeapForth. The channel brings its viewers closer to horizon of new experiences, new journeys, hence inspiring them to break away from the regular and leap into something that they have never done.

Bringing the same experiences of unlimited possibilities, &flix caught up with industry stalwarts to know about their biggest leaps.

&flix spoke to Priti Murthy, CEO, OMD to understand her idea of #EverydayLeaps, the possibilities and leaps that have been crucial in her journey till date. She is a great fan of super heroes and focuses on learning new things to get a new perspective to life every time.

Your idea of #EverydayLeaps is…

Be Bold, Be Brave. This is the mantra that I follow every day. One thing that I love to do is to always look ahead in life and the strength to keep looking forward comes from my wonderful past.

To avoid getting stuck in the rut, your secret sauce to leaping forth into a world of unlimited possibilities is…

Since last 3-4 years, I follow one rule in my life, which to learn two new things annually. Now, whether I succeed or fail, it does not matter to me, but I try to learn as much as I can. I may go to classes or someone teaches me at home, but my focus is on learning new things. This rule has helped me break the monotony and look at life from a different perspective. I follow this practice as it gives me perspective and keeps me grounded.

One superhero you relate to is…I am a big fan of superheroes.

I follow DC Comics, Avengers and have a lot of comic books. I have a list of superheroes that I follow and like. However, my ultimate superhero will always be ‘Phantom’. It is about doing good and without showing who you are and not getting the fame. Such kind of superheroes inspires me. And, also Phantom is about legacy, which goes on and on.

Marvel’s Venom has shown the world that sometimes it takes a little bit of bad to do some good. Your meaning of embracing your inner evil for a greater good is…

All of us have shadow personalities where we want to do good for everybody. So, when I see something bad happening and want to circumvent them, that is when the shadow personality comes to the fore front. However, I do not have too much complexities. My motivations are never from my shadow personality.

Your biggest leap in making the person that you are today is…

The defining moment for me was the birth of my son, five years ago. I think it changed me as a person and now I am able to sense things and life in a much better way. It might sound cliché, but it is true. You realize that you have created something and the moral accountability of living with that and the sense of empowerment you get is amazing. I did not realize it till I experienced. It was a defining moment of my life and it has helped me catapult as a person. Today, I am a CEO because I can see life very differently and that is because of my kid. I could take things very boldly and it is like if he can do it, so can I.

For you, the possibilities that lie beyond what meets the eye are…

You only look for it, if you are open to do new things. It is for the same reason I started learning two new skills every year that is to look at life in a completely different context. It is like you are working on a straight path and then side stepping and exploring. One may return to his/ her old path or take the newer one. The important point is that the journey matters more than the path or the destination. The journey is fun. I never see life in a way that I must do a certain thing in 2019, then something in 2020 and so on. Life is not like that to me. Life is all about experiences and it can only happen when you are looking at things beyond the normal.
