To OMG’s Yatin Balyan, #EverydayLeaps are about creating right processes to get right output

Life is about taking a quantum leap to break the everyday routine and do something extraordinary. Be it work, relationships or family, people are always looking out for newer experiences that enrich their lives. However, breaking the wheel of your daily rut is usually not an easy task, as people are so caught up in their monotonous schedules that they forget to turn their “Why’s into Why nots”.

&flix, the English movie channel from ZEEL, urges people to leap out of the ordinary as the channel has entered its second year of unlimited leaps. &flix believes in #EverydayLeaps that allow you to break away from the monotony and do something new, every day. The Hollywood movie channel with its massive library of movies showcases a world of unlimited possibilities enabling viewers to #LeapForth. The channel brings its viewers closer to the horizon of new experiences, new journeys, hence inspiring them to break away from the regular and leap into something that they have never done.

Bringing the same experiences of unlimited possibilities, &flix caught up with industry stalwarts to know about their biggest leaps.

&flix spoke to Yatin Balyan, SVP and National Head, Investment and Enterprise, Omnicom Media Group to understand his idea of #EverydayLeaps, the possibilities and leaps that have been crucial in his journey till date. He is an admirer of Steve Jobs for his capabilities to keep improving what was already the best.

Your idea of #EverydayLeaps is…

For me, #EveryLeaps is to work smart and keep finding a better way. With my engineering background, I believe that there is always a better way of doing the same thing, helping you work smarter. I admired Steve Jobs for his capabilities to keep improving what was already the best.

To avoid getting stuck in the rut, your secret sauce to leaping forth into a world of unlimited possibilities is…

“Right people driven by right process deliver the right product,” is my mantra in life. I was never a great fan of Rahul Dravid, but one comment he made has resonated with me – ‘If the process is right, the results will follow.’ Also, I believe that a person is only as good as the team he works with. A right process needs different kinds of people and if the team is right, it works wonders.

One superhero you relate to is…

For me, a superhero is one who inspires and has worked beyond his capabilities for the betterment of society. My dad is my super hero, however, speaking strictly about movies - my super hero is Rocky Balboa of Rocky series. I can’t forget his line - “Life's not about how hard of a hit you can give... it's about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward.”

That one superpower that gets you going is…

It’s my disciplined routine that keeps pushing me to strive for the best. I like building trustworthy connections with people, as it keeps me motivated in the difficult and competitive world of media business.

Your biggest leap in making the person that you are today is…

My biggest leap was when I had moved out of industry to join a renowned education institute for media studies. When I was off the grid, I got the glimpse of the bigger picture and it also helped develop a better perspective for life. The break helped me rationalise my priorities.

For you, the possibilities that lie beyond what meets the eye are…

I would love to explore the possibilities of contributing towards academics. I want to connect with young minds and influence them in whatever best possible way to give back to the society.
