Six Pack Band and Bang Baaja Baaraat bag golds in Brand Video, and Brand Integration-Web Series categories, respectively.
vdonxt asia, India's largest convention on the rapidly growing digital video space had a power-packed first day at the Westin in Mumbai yesterday. This was the first time the event was held, and it brought together everyone who is a stakeholder in digital video. With brand marketers,VOD/OTT players, agency executives and investors in attendance, day 1- which had strategic sessions, an exhibition, and masterclasses, ended with a thrilling awards ceremony.
The Vdonxt Asia Awards aim to recognise the best work, and also identify and celebrate individuals playing a significant role in pushing the growth of digital video.
The awards for the best work were in two categories. One was Brand Video - which was about creative use of digital video as part of a brand campaign. The category was open only to films that were created only for digital or were digital-first. The second category was Brand Integration - Web Series, where the brand had been woven seamlessly, yet memorably into a multi-part video story.
The people awards were also in two categories - Person of the Year-New Media, (for someone who has made a significant contribution to the growth of the digital video business, having placed big bets on the medium, been a pioneer and approached the task in an innovative way) and Person of the year- Content Creator (for someone who had created standout work that has made people spend more time online, and succeeded in gaining a substantial following).
The short-listed entries were reviewed by jury members Ajay Kakar (Chief Marketing Officer Aditya Birla Group - Financial Services), Chandrasekar Radhakrishnan (Sr. VP & Head of Communications and eCommerce, Nestlé South Asia Region), Rahul Kansal, (Head Strategy and Marketing, Future Consumer), Satya Raghavan (Head of Entertainment YouTube), and Siddharth Banerjee (Sr. VP Marketing, Vodafone).
TVF's Arunabh Kumar was Person of the year - New Media, while Person of the year - Content Creator was awarded to All India Bakchod (AIB).
In the Brand Video category, the gold was won by Mindshare India for 'Six Pack Band', while silver went to Culture Machine for 'Amitabh Bachchan Unblushed'.
Boring Brands took home the bronze for 'The Journey'.
In Brand Integration -Web Series, Mindshare bagged Gold for Bang Baaja Baarat. Silver went to United Spirits for Silver Signature Startup Master Class, while Bronze went to Mindshare India for Girl in the City.
