Speaking about the resignation, Anant Goenka, executive director, The Indian Express, tells afaqs, " Sandeep has done some phenomenal work at The Express over the last one year and two months. He leaves with the best wishes of the board. We will always have a great relationship and we hope to continue to work together with each other in the future."

When asked about Amar's replacement, Goenka says, "No comment as of now. Sandeep reported to me and I have been running the business for four years before Sandeep joined. So, there is not much of a change on account of his exit."

Amar started his career in 1997 as senior officer, sales and direct marketing at The Times Group with which his association lasted for two years. It is interesting to note that ten years later, Amar again became a part of The Times Group as vice president and head, marketing, audience and sales strategy, business head for the entity's 'simplymarried.com'. He later went on to work with Hindustan Times, Indiatimes, Zee Telefilms, Citigroup, among others.
