Arup Ghosh has called it a day at the recently launched news channel, Channel 7. Ghosh had joined this project in December, 2004 as director, news.

When asked about the reason behind quitting Channel 7, and that too within a very short span of four months, Ghosh said, “Channel 7 was the second successful launch of my career after Sahara Samay. I am looking forward to more such challenges now.”

He added, “From my side, I had a great time working with the Jagran's management team. I am satisfied that the channel has been successfully launched.”

Talking about his forthcoming projects, Ghosh said, “I am exploring two opportunities at present. But I am unable to comment at this stage, before something concrete materialises.”

Ghosh had quit Sahara Samay in early November last year. He has worked in the print medium for 13 years for publications such as Hindustan Times, The Statesman and The Times Of India. He then moved to NDTV as a correspondent.

Subsequently, he quit NDTV to start his own enterprise. Since the last three years, he had been associated with Sahara Samay Rashtriya as the channel head and then as director news of Channel 7.

When agencyfaqs! contacted Siddhartha Gupta, director, Channel 7, he said, “Ghosh has decided to move on due to personal reasons. We have amicably decided to part ways. We also know that his best wishes are with Channel 7.”

Gupta added, “His invaluable contributions as a founding member of Channel 7 will never be forgotten.”

The channel is yet to decide on Ghosh's replacement, but as Gupta said, “A decision on this will be taken in a week's time and somebody from outside will be taking Ghosh's place and no one would be promoted within the organisation.” © 2005 agencyfaqs!
