Rickey Dovey, MD, ESPN STAR Sports quits; Jamie Davis steps in

Davis, who until recently was president, STAR China, will resume his new job from September 1

Rickey Dovey, managing director, ESPN STAR Sports has quit the broadcaster. As per an official communiqué, Jamie Davis, president, STAR China, will replace Dovey as the next managing director of ESPN STAR Sports from September 1.

The official communiqué also stated that Davis and Dovey would be working together for the next six months to ensure a seamless leadership transition.

The outgoing head of ESPN STAR Sports has been with the sports channel network for the last nine years. During his tenure at ESS, he has served in various capacities in the production department before being appointed as managing director, five year ago.

Davis, the new head of ESPN STAR Sports, has 14 years of experience in the broadcasting industry, having worked for companies such as CBS Sports, Fox Sports, STAR in Hong Kong and China. At STAR, he began his career as the chief financial officer in 1996. Soon after, he assumed the position of senior vice-president overseeing STAR's general entertainment and movie channels.

As president of STAR China, Davis successfully led the company's localisation initiatives such as relaunching CHannel [V] and creating STAR's flagship Chinese general entertainment channel Xing Kong Wei Shi.
