Tapas Das of ‘Bartaman’ joins Lokmat Group as business head

Das, who has worked mainly for the eastern India market, is looking forward to tapping a new market

Tapas Das of ‘Bartaman’ has joined the Lokmat Group as its new business head.

Confirming this development to agencyfaqs!, Ajit Nair, general manager, ‘Lokmat’, says, “Das brings with him a whole array of experience. He has always worked for publications based in the eastern sector. However, he has been interacting with advertising agencies and media planning agencies from all over the country. Therefore, we did not have any inhibitions regarding his profile before taking him on board.”

Talking about his new role in ‘Lokmat’, Das says, “I have always worked in the eastern India market, and was looking forward to exploring other markets. So, I grabbed this opportunity when it came my way.”

He adds, “At ‘Lokmat’, I will lead the space marketing team. And this role is extremely challenging for me, especially because, all along, I have handled single editions. Here, I will be looking after 15 editions – 10 in Marathi, three in Hindi and two in English.”

Das, who did his postgraduation in management studies from Mumbai University, started his career as a trainee with the ABP Group. After being with the ABP Group for 10 years, Das moved to ‘The Statesman’ as advertising manager, and worked there for three years. Before moving to ‘Lokmat’, Das did a stint with ‘Bartaman’ as chief manager.
