Zoom’s Ashit Kukian joins Radio City as national head, corporate sales

Kukian, who has worked for over 12 years with the TOI Group, says radio is one industry that is going to see a boom, and this is the primary reason for his move

Ashit Kukian, regional sales head, west and east, Zoom Television, has put in his papers. He will join Radio City as national head, corporate sales, early in November. Basing himself in Mumbai, Kukian will report to Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City.

Confirming this development, Kukian says, “I have worked with Purohit in the past, so I share a great comfort level with her. I think radio is the medium of the future and growth potential is unlimited here. This is particularly so because of the second wave of FM regulations, which have been a great help to private FM stations. Over the next three to four years, advertisers will increase tremendously the monies that they spend on radio.”

On his plans for Radio City, Kukian says, “The first thing we have to do is get the right kind of people on board. Then we will formulate strategies to bolster the advertising revenues at Radio City.”

Kukian started his career in 1987 at Johnson & Johnson as a sales representative. In 1989, he moved on to Berger Paints. Two years later, he did a brief stint at L’Oreal as a part of its launch team.

He joined the Times Group in 1992, where he worked as the group head for magazines such as ‘Filmfare’ and ‘Femina’, after which he was made group head, display. He has been with Zoom Television since its inception in May 2004.
