Alex Kuruvilla joins the board of Coruscant Tec

The former managing director, MTV Networks India and executive vice- president MTV Networks Asia, joins as a non executive member of the Board of Directors of Coruscant Tec

Speculation has been rife about where Alex Kuruvilla, former managing director, MTV Networks India and executive vice-president MTV Networks Asia would join. One lead in this direction is that Kuruvilla has been nominated as a non executive member of the Board of Directors of Coruscant Tec from October 2005. Coruscant Tec is a leading mobile content and commerce provider.

Kuruvilla will contribute by providing strategic direction and learnings on innovative mobile content solutions into new markets and help create product identities that have a wide reaching impact on the youth of today.

Confirming his nomination, Kuruvilla says, "The incredible pace at which innovation and growth is happening in the mobile and wireless space makes it an exciting place for me to be involved with. I was impressed by the Coruscant team's passion and I am very excited about the breakthrough ideas that they are launching.”

Welcoming Kuruvilla to the Board, Ajay Adiseshann, managing director, Coruscant Tec, says, “Alex has a legacy of building the most successful youth channels of Asia. We welcome his experience and wisdom to the Coruscant Board and are sure that his presence will add to the quality of debate and decision making at the Board".

Kuruvilla is the man behind making ‘desi’ cool. Having a successful 17-year career in advertising, Kuruvilla’s last assignment involved spearheading the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of MTV, Nickelodeon (Nick) and VH1 in India and South East Asia.

Kuruvilla has won many accolades and recognition for his works, prominent among them being the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ nomination bestowed on him by Ernst & Young in 2002. He has also featured in Business India’s “People To Watch Out For In The New Millennium”. He is a regular speaker at industry events organized by FICCI, CII, and the Indian School of Business.

Coruscant Tec, set up in 2003 in Mumbai, has alliances with several leading Indian and international aggregators, telecom operators, financial networks and banks to bring mobile content and commerce to Indian mobile subscribers.
