Disney ties-up with Doordarshan to capture the non-C&S viewers

As per the deal, Disney will pay a fixed fee to Doordarshan for a 30-minute time band and it will recover this amount by selling advertising time slots during this period

With two channels in the kitty, Disney now attempts to capture non-C&S viewers in India. To accomplish this objective, Disney has tied up with Doordarshan for a weekly 30-mins licensed branded block called ‘Disney Jadoo’.

Speaking to agencyfaqs! Rajat Jain, managing director, The Walt Disney Company (India), says, “With 90-95 million viewers, the terrestrial reach of Doordarshan is much more than the C&S (Cable and Satellite) population in India. We aim to reach to every child across India so that they can enjoy Disney animation content.”

‘Disney Jadoo’ is being run on Doordashan National every Saturday morning from 10am –10.30 am. Apart from‘Mickey Mouse and Friends’, some of the other programmes, that will be showcased in this segment are, ‘Legends of Tarzan’, ‘101 Dalmatians’, etc.

As per the deal, Disney will pay a fixed fee to Doordarshan for this 30-mins time band. Disney can recover this money by selling advertising time slots during this time band. And as per Doordarshan official tariff card, the producer is allowed to sell around 180 secs ad slot during a 30-mins programme.

For the record, currently Disney has two channels such as Toon Disney and Disney Channel. Toon Disney is available in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu feed while the Disney Channel is available in only Hindi and English feed.
