Zoom away in 2006

Among the five shows the channel is planning to launch in 2006, the first off the shelf is a glamour and lifestyle oriented reality show

In the one year of its existence, Zoom has carved a niche for itself in offering its viewers behind-the-scenes glimpses into celebrity lifestyles and showcasing the finer things in life. So, what does Zoom have up its sleeve for 2006?

Aparna Pande, head of programming, Zoom, says, “We’ll begin with a reality programme in January 2006. It will be glamour and lifestyle oriented. However, the show will not contain a make-over contest. We have already done away with the make-over contest in 2005. In addition, we will launch four more shows in the first quarter of 2006. The new shows will again be non-fictional and will contain the typical Zoom format.”

She adds, “Since we are winding up a number of our shows such as ‘The Manish Malhotra Show’, ‘Dance Divas’ and ‘Mirchi Top 20’, the entire programming schedule for 2006 is slated for a makeover. Shows such as ‘Popkorn’ and ‘Page 3’ will be revamped completely and we will introduce more interactivity in them.”

Zoom has some special programmes planned to wrap up 2005. On December 31, the channel will showcase a weekend special of ‘Popkorn’, hosted by Rajeshwari Sachdev Badola. ‘Popkorn’ raises a toast to the New Year, as the hostess replays 2005 with the best of television and film reports.

On January 1, 2006, the channel will air a special edition of ‘Weekend Page 3’. The show will talk about the most happening parties of the year, Bollywood gossip – who was seeing whom, break-ups, the biggest movie hits of the year and the most happening international and national events. The show will include the high-profile weddings of 2005 and intriguing tips on fashion. ‘Weekend Page 3’ will also crown the most fashionable person and the most wanted fashion designer of 2005.
