ADAG’s Adlabs sweeps away 19 cities for Rs 30.32 crore

Interestingly, South Asia FM has managed to get the licences for 10 cities for just Rs 3.76 crore

In the second phase of bidding for FM licences, which was held for 21 cities from across eight states and union territories of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal and Chandigarh, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group owned Adlabs has won the bid for 19 cities.

Adlabs will have to shell out Rs 30.32 crore for these 19 cities which include Chandigarh, Agra, Srinagar, Jhansi, Ajmer, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hisar, Bareilly, Kota, Bikaner, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Karnal, Udaipur, Aligarh, Jodhpur, Simla, Patiala, and Jammu.

In terms of number of cities, South Asia FM follows next with 10 cities. Interestingly, the company has managed to get the licenses for Jhansi, Ajmer, Bareilly, Kota, Bikaner, Varanasi, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Udaipur, and Aligarh for just Rs 3.76 crore. Its highest bid was for Varanasi and Allahabad at Rs 64 lakh, respectively.

Following it is Jagran Group’s Shri Puran Multimedia which won the bid for seven cities including Agra, Hisar, Jalandhar, Bareilly, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Karnal for Rs 7.51 crore.

Dainik Bhaskar’s Synergy Media, and ZEE’s Pan India has won the bid for five cities each. While Bhaskar group has won the bid for Chandigarh, Ajmer, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Jodhpur for Rs 16.05 crore, ZEE group has bagged the license for Agra, Amritsar, Varanasi, Allahabad, and Patiala for Rs 10.80 crore.

Among the other media groups, Bag Films has bagged the license for Hisar, Karnal and Shimla for Rs 2.13 crore, while Rajashthan Patrika has bagged two cities – Kota and Udaipur for Rs 61.20 lakh.

The existing radio players such as Radio Today and Radio Mirchi have won it for three and two cities, respectively. While Radio Today has bagged Amritsar, Jodhpur and Patiala with a spend of Rs 3.78 crore, Radio Mirchi has won the bid for Jalandhar and Varanasi for Rs 3.36 crore.

Among the other players, Kushal Global has won the bid for Ajmer and Jodhpur for Rs 1.9 crore, Single Property Dealers and RAG Infotainment have won it for Hisar and Patiala, respectively. While Rag Infotainment bagged Patiala for Rs 81.10 lakh, Single Property Dealer got Hisar for Rs 50.04 lakh.
