ZEE’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 readies for its finals

'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge' which has been on ZEE TV for the last 13 years is getting ready for this year’s mega final, which will be aired live on February 24. The final episode of this talent hunt show will last three hours -- from 9 pm till midnight.

The channel hopes to make the final episode a star-studded affair, roping in celebrities like Rani Mukherjee, Saif Ali Khan and Salman Khan.

The show, which has helped ZEE increase its viewership share among the general entertainment channels to claim the No.2 position, has been getting about 2.5 lakh SMS per week on an average from viewers voting for their favourite contestants.

Ashish Kaul, senior vice president, corporate brand development, ZEE Network, says, “On the recent India tour, 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge' contestants were nearly mobbed by their fans. This proves the immense popularity of the show.”

Indeed, the two finalists on the show, Vinit and Debojit, have become as much of household names as Abhijit Sawant and Amit Sane of Sony Entertainment Television’s Indian Idol.

Even as the curtains fall down upon this year’s show, the channel’s executives are quick to reassure that the 13-year old series will be back soon in a fresh format, and probably a new look. Insiders says the next series may be back looking for a singer jodi, same as that of Fame Gurukul on Sony Entertainment Television.
