‘Mid-Day’ to launch in Bangalore

The team is in place and the paper is expected to be out in the next quarter

After revamping its flagship brand, ‘Mid-Day’, on February 27, Mid-Day Multimedia Ltd is set to put roots down south, in Bangalore.

According to industry sources, the paper is set to launch within the next quarter. While senior executives at ‘Mid-Day’ are still close-lipped about it, agencyfaqs! has learnt from reliable sources that a part of the hiring process for the Bangalore edition is already through, and the new team is to start its training session from March 10.

The sources name Anil Thakraney as senior editor, projects, in Bangalore. The marketing team is also working to hire people and train them for the Bangalore edition. The marketing strategy will be finalised once the team is in place, according to insiders.

Mid-Day Multimedia Ltd, a Mumbai based media conglomerate, boasts of four newspaper brands in three languages. ‘Mid-Day’ and ‘Sunday Mid-Day’ are published in English. Plus, there’s a Gujarati daily, the ‘Gujarati Mid-Day’, and an Urdu daily, ‘The Inquilab’.

The conglomerate also owns an FM station, Go 92.5 FM, in Mumbai. It is a major player in outdoor advertising in Mumbai, too. And with the new licences in its kitty, there is no stopping the conglomerate.

‘Mid-Day’, Mumbai, celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.
